Michelangelo Merisi de Caravaggio

Italian baroque artist Michelangelo Merisi de Caravaggio, created oil paintings in the 16th century. He combined a dramatic use of lighting with realistic observations of human nature. Caravaggio moved to Rome while in his 20s to meet the demand for artists painters to fill the churches there.

A Dominican friar during the early 1400s, Fra Angelico is remembered as 1 of the greatest fresco painters of his time. Built-in in Florence, Italia, in 1400, he went on to paint frescoes at a chapel at the Vatican and at the monastery of San Marco.
